is a gryphon a large brown feather appearing in front of the library announces this year's campus chest goal as 5000 each student will be solicited individually during the week of oct 7-12 a charity ball ticket will be given to those who contribute 3 to the drive parents are invited to attend the charity ball oct 12 in grace hall free of charge music will be provided by the collegians and along with the revival of the wishing well a king and queen will be crowned residence halls members will be contacted by the house president gifts to chest aid hungarians adding greatly to the air of friendliness and warm cordiality which will prevade the entire campus this coming weekend will be the pres ence of the faculty at all of the student activities parents are encouraged to attend the buffet luncheon on the lower floor of grace hall saturday morning at 11 where they will have an opportunity to meet and talk with faculty members attendance at both the luncheon and the football game was requested of the faculty by president martin d whitaker in a letter this week in which he emphasized the importance of the weekend in the annual cal endar and the need for greater understanding between parents and faculty those parents arriving early enough for the parents day weekend activities are invited to attend the scl program friday evening at 8 in grace hall where noted stage screen radio and tv actress clair luce will present a dramatic program students are reminded that they may bring their parents with them to classes saturday morning and that immediately after the buffet luncheon at 12:30 there will be interesting pre game activities in taylor sta dium prior to the 1:30 kick off the faculty members of the le high family will be seated among the parents and their sons in the reserved section of the stadium during the lehigh-gettysburg foot ball game as a climax to the day's activities the campus chest will present the charity ball saturday evening at 9 in grace hall where all the parents attending will be eligible to enter the contest to choose a king and queen of the ball university buildings will be open to the parents especially the alumni memorial building housing an art exhibit on the first floor and fritz engineering lab which houses the world's largest university testing machine walt grabowsky 58 has been named ugliest man on the campus this unparalleled honor came to the president of the residence hall counsellors so ciety the gryphons as a result of his piling up the most cash votes of any of the 16 contend ers in the annual ugly man per cent united negro college fund and the national scholarship service and fund for negro students will re ceive contributions to provide worthy negro students with a chance to attend all-negro
