seniors will exit with a blaze of glory on senior . weekend which will start with a picnic saturday june 8 at noon and end with the 89th annual commencement exer cises monday morning june 10th in grace hall the highlight of the week end the graduation ball will be held in the hotel bethlehem saturday night from 9 p.m to 1 a.m music for the formal dance will be provided by walt simpson a buffet will be served at midnight see unclaimed page 4 underclassmen will be able to pick up their copies of the 57 epi tome all day today and continuing through monday and tuesday from 12 noon to 5 o'clock in the epitome office in drown hall distribution of books to seniors will end today with any remaining copies to be distrib uted by either mrs moraves or tuesday deadline on epitome pickups campus leaders cited at flagpole ceremonies in a break with tradition two seniors joseph a mooney and ralph r rhodes were presented with the dean's service award at flagpole ceremonies also honored as a top man was peter johnson 57 who was awarded the bosey reiter leadership cup for leadership displayed in both scholastic and athletic activities for his ervice to the student body as a whole epitome editor arnold rosenberg was presented with the arcadia student service award dean j douglas leith who pre sented the dean's award to mooney and rhodes explained that the prize has always been presented to one man but that because the com mittee had such trouble with their selection they decided to make duplicate awards mooney who graduated in february is past president of ifc and is listed in who's who in american colleges and uni versities he was a member of odk chairman of the ifc pledge banquet member of fall houseparty judiciary committee and the senior class gift com mittee duplicate award-winner rhodes is president of mcclintic-marshall hall and on rhc he was a mem ber of houseparty judiciary com mittee and vice-president of a.p.o pete johnson 57 who received the reiter cup from vice-president and provost of the university dr kenneth e smiley is senior class treasurer and on the class gift com mittee as a junior he was a treas urer of cyanide johnson is a mem ber of tau beta pi eta kappa nu and omicron delta kappa arcadia president joseph gratto 58 in presenting the arcadia student service to ar nold rosenberg 57 noted that it was rosenberg who submitted see epitome page 4 wet but willing band drill team march willie restum will provide his off beat style of music at the picnic which will be held at hunsickers grove directions to the grove can be obtained at mrs moravec's office when a ticket for the event is pur chased signs marked lehigh will be posted at major turns refreshments at the picnic will consist of hot dogs potato salad and beer in the carpenters and joiners were present tuesday aftcrnacn to vote to turn down the latest offer of the area con tractors litzenberger said wednesday that if the carpenters stay out another two weeks practically all work on the center will cease the offer that was turned down by the carpenters despite the fact that the executive council had ac cepted it was for a 36-cent an hour increase this would boost the car penter's pay from the present 2.89 to 3.25 phi sigma kappa will vie with three other fraterintics beta theta pi kappa alpha and theta chi in a battle of song to determine ihe location of ihe coveted inter-frater nity singing award in the annual pops concert tomorrow night at 8 in grace hall the phi sigs are trying to re tain possession of the cup for the second straight year while the betas who won the trophy for three years in a row before last year arc trying to w*n »* back an innovation in pops concert presentations will be a jazz concert to be held after the band and the vocal groups have finished their presentations two groups will pro vide music to suit both progressive and dixieland fanatics the concert will also mark the last musical activity in which prof william h schempf will direct during his stay at lehigh attendance figures compiled to date show that the concert will be a complete sell-out with see jazz page 4
