of both cyanide and odk and is that coveted honor spring houseparty queen 1957 will be sought by a record number of beautiful females if present plans materialize blind dates fiances sisters and wives are expected to be among the more than 40 nominees selected by various living groups for the honor sue alcock a 19-year-old pennsylvanian and a blind date won over three finalists last year each living group is being sent instructions for nominating their choice according to john steinbrunn 58 queen committee chair man more than 40 candidates will assemble in room 167 in grace hall at 11 friday night six candidates will be selected from this group and the judges will select three from the six the winner will be selected from these three the queen will receive a crown floral bouquet and a trophy the two runners-up will receive bouquets and trophies and the re maining three judged on the stage will receive bouquets skitch henderson and lord money are expected to be two of the judges the others have not yet been selected members of the junior class completed final rounds of can vassing living groups this week to sell ducats with preliminary sales running ahead of last year ticket chairman bill helfrich 58 predicts an attendance approximating 1300 tickets may be purchased in the arcadia office in drown hall next week at 5 each they will be sold at the door the night of the dance for 5.50 the evening promises to supply an array of personalities for houseparty goers preceding the dance daphne hellman harpist and commediene will entertain dancers will have both extremes of the musical scale to toe to in the evening of diversity lord money represents the recent trend to calypso dancers and is reputed to have an array of these tunes ready for dancers and center according to a motion passed by arcadia at their meeting wednesday night the solons made the stand after a discussion on the petition cir culated by two price hall sophomores protesting the possible choice of the present operator of lamberton hall as operator of the new din ing center a motion made by ernie young 59 and passed unanimously stated arcadia s the representative body of lehigh students feels strongly that student opinion be given fullest consideration before any contract i for the eating concession is made several of the arcadians called for strong action when they were in formed of the petition protesting the present lamberton operator and of rumors that he was preparing to move into the center when facilities there are completed joe gratto 58 president of the student government body ' stated that arcadia will send a letter to the deans office stating the opinion of arcadia on the matter and requesting that prop er action be taken by the uni versity the arcadians also discussed the question as to whether or not stu dents eating in the center should wear coats and ties to dinner next year after discussion it was decided by the group to leave the choice up brown and white staff to work easter sunday students will not be able to pro cure salk vaccine shots from the health center until may 1 dr george mccoy director of the cen ter said yesterday only those who have already signed up to receive the injec tions will be able to continue their immunization according to the director dr mccoy stated that the center only stores enough of the serum to take care of those who have signed up with the registrar since each batch of the vaccine is only good for a certain period of time enough vaccine may be received by may 1 to resume the program the doctor stated applications due may 6 for special ss tests a special selective service col lege qualification test will be held thursday may 16 for those students who were unable to take the regu larly scheduled tests applications for the may 16 test must be postmarked not later than midnight may 6 in order to be eligible to apply for the special test to be given on may 16 a student need not have ap plied for one of the previous tests applicants for the special test should request assistance in filling out their application cards from local board clerks see arcadia page 4 for the first time in
