with the famed spring house party weekend only a week and a half from reality the junior class is making final preparations for what appears to be a fabulous affair hot and cool harpist daphne hellman and mark twain-im personator hal holbrook fea tured artists for the next stu dent concerts-lectures program are booked to appear prior to the houseparty formal at 7:30 on friday april 26 decorations for the dance will utilize the massive stage and pan oramic projection screen remnants of last weekend's music festival as part of the elaborate decorations planned for the upper and lower iloors of grace hall for the first time in years both floors of grace will be similarly decorated with blue and white drapes and twinkling stars on the ceilings lattices will adorn the walls of both floors with the upper floor being decorated in slightly darker shades to provide the proper setting for lord money and his calypso dollars ten trees with pink blossoms will enhance the dance floor with a mystic spring air slides of spring scenes will be pro jected on the large wall-to-wall by wayne granger something sort of grandish hap pened in grace hall last weekend after a year's absence the music festival again made an appearance on lehiglrs campus the luck o the irish must have been with prof albert rights and prof william schempf technical and music di rectors of the production about 6,500 people indicated by their applause that the music festival had been missed last year le high wasn't the same without it the people were glad to have it back again candid opinion rated the weekend as nothing short of a success ap proximately 7,000 tickets were sold for the two-part production accord ing to jim keith 57 sales manager trustees honor grace of the festival parents students and dates gave both portions of the weekend a well deserved ovation modern sets a co operative cast good accoustics ex pert musicianship and work lots of it brought the one possible re sult an enjoyable and entertaining music festival the principals of finian's rainbow presented friday evening and saturday afternoon performed in true broadway fashion two members of the music fs cast drew gasps and giggles from the audience as they went through their parts and did mere than justice to their roles susan mahoney played by judy sindel pert and agile 16-year-old see sindel page 4 new dorm named mcclintic-marshall skitch henderson — spring is here eugene gifford grace who retired recently as the president of the le high university board of trustees was presented with an engraved tes timonial book in recognition of his 44 years service to the university by the trustees last wednesday at the university club in new york city grace chairman of the board of the bethlehem steel com pany was elected an alumnus trustee in 1912 less than a year later he was named corporate trustee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of john fritz he was elected president of the trustees jan 9 1924 to succeed henry r price he served con tinuously as president until last sept 21 he was named an honorary trustee and honorary chairman of the board when he resigned as a trustee jan 9 grace graduated from lehigh in 1899 as valedictorian of his class as an undergraduate he captained the 1898 and 1899 baseball teams from his position of shortstop the period during which he served as president of the trus tees was characterized by in creased emphasis on graduate study and research expansion in curricula student activities buildings endowment enroll ment and alumni interest since 1924 the faculty has almost doubled the endowment has more than been quadrupled and the num ber of buildings on campus has al most doubled the citation on the testimonial book reads dr eugene gifford grace was elected as alumnus trustee for one year be ginning in 1921 and as corporate trustee of the university from 1922 to 1944 he died may 16 1945 lehigh university will name the fourth unit of its new residence halls system the mcclintic-marshall house in honor of two former al umni who served as corporate trustees of the university howard hale mcclintic and charles donnell marshall the name is in recognition of the loyalty of these sons of lehigh said dr martin d whitaker university president today in announcing the action of the board of trustees we are all pleased by this op portunity to honor the names of mr mcclintic and mr marshall they did much to establish the reputation of lehigh university thus it is fitting that their names and their deeds be perpetuated on the campus for future generations of lehigh students the new building opened this semester was built at a cost of 813,359 the funds for the new structure which houses 296 students were made available through gifts from alumni parents friends and business and industrial firms to the packer hall-dormitory campaign mcclintci and marshall were petitionsduein drown hall for class cabinet posts applications for positions on the class cabinets of 58 59 and 60 are due in the arcadia office in drown hall by 5 p.m tomor row the applications may be secured at this location class presidents have urged the
