this coming week dr franz polgar right asks three of his subjects what they want to drink in testing his power of hypnotic suggestion friday night polgar's antics delightful fraternity parties and the us ual breakfast at lamberton fin ish off the night's activities or as some prefer to say begin sat urday's activities at approximately 10 a.m satur day the sour hour becomes the vogue for those who can take it for those who can't the afternoon picnic is first on the agenda after a strenuous game of soft ball or other sport the ai hie tea wend their way home to dinner and subsequent costume parties those that are still alive by sunday morn ing are congratulated for their strong consttiutions be they male or female at five sunday afternoon the weekend comes to its sad ending with the dates being sent or taken back to their respective schools or homes end is no exception at 4 p.na friday the lehigh man races back to his pre of residence throws his books and notes into a corner and is trans formed into the social man about campus that evening at 7:30 will find a crowd at broughal junior high school to witness the first act of the tavern m&cs spring pro duction an added attraction at the friday performance will be the uni versity glee club following the play is the main function of the weekend the dance held at grace hall les elgart and the rhythmaires take care of the musical chores on the lower and up per floor respectively at midnight the half-way point of the dai.ee a hp queen will be selected from the bevy of comely damsels attending the dance made time of least importance to the spectators polgar opened the perform ance by offering a 5,000 reward to anyone able to prove his act a hoax he added a humorous touch by stating i'll give my personal check for 5,000 or 10 cash as his opening feat polgar en listed audience aid in drawing 16 numbered squares identified by crowd-suggested objects then pol gar asked for a number from the au dience the overwhelming choice was 69 polgar then proceeded with his back to the blackboard to supply numbers for the squares in rapid fire succession when filled the squares added to 69 in every ima ginable combination drawing both applause and roars from the audi ence next to demonstrate his pow ers of mental telepathy polgar challenged university news edi tor charles k moravec to con ceal his paycheck for the eve ning somewhere in the crowd with the stipulation that if he did not find the check his fee for the performance would be gratis polgar left the hall accompanied by two spectators and the check was hidden in the handbag of a pert young lady seated along the side of the auditorium polgar returned and enlisted the help of a lady from the audience as a sending station to see hypnotist concerts-lectures com mittee polgar's too-short two hour program was vociferously approved by the mixed audi ence of students and towns people hailed by national magazines as the greatest in the fields of hypno tism and telepathy polgar wasted no time in living up to his press notices although the show got under way 10 minutes later than the scheduled 8 p.m starting time the fast pace and master showmanship of polgar whitton to assume post at princeton dixieland feast in senior plans for graduation pictured above is les elgart who leads the band with the danc ing sound spring hp's major attraction elgart is widely known in the music world as the trumpet player's trumpet player numerous snack bars revealed by b & w poll ber of alpha tau omega frater nity the 36-year-old native of lanark scotland received his first coaching assignment at that school as varsity end coach after serving the next three years in the army whitton became head football coach at north tarrytown where his teams won 17 lost only four times and played two ties fol lowing his three-year tenure there whitton accepted his present le high post so far this year his varsity track outfit has compiled a highly suc cessful three-win no-loss record and is expected to finish the season with an excellent record two big june weekend nign lighted by cocktails banquets dixie land music picnics dancing and potato salad have been scheduled by the senior class the first of these two periods begins friday june 10 going under the label of alumni weekend the class of 05 will hold a cocktail party in the hotel bethlehem for the class of 55 friday afternoon a ban quet in grace hall follows with the 05 class giving the 55 class a cup at the festivities graduation weekend opening sat urday june 18 11 a.m with a picnic is the last big blast for the senior class the picnic to be held at hun sicker's picnic grove in alburtis pa features a noon meal of hot dogs and hamburgers plus the aforemention ed potato salad after an afternoon of dixieland music and who knows what else a clam bake takes place at 5 p.m at the grove as added measures for the comfort and pleasure of all beer will flow at the picnic grounds from 11 a.m until the seniors depart in case of rain there is a covered pavilion able to seat 1000 people and under this same roof is a dance floor to top the day off a formal dance will take the spotlight from 9 to 1 saturday night in the main ballroom of the hotel bethlehem to all those who have paid their class assessment the entire proceed ings of saturday are free for those who haven't come across yet a fee for 7 will cover dance and picnic bill whitton has resigned from the lehigh coaching staff to accept the dual position of assistant football and assistant track coach at prince ton university whitton a member of the le high staff since 1950 has served as end coach in football var sity track coach and freshman basketball coach coming here from north tarry town n.y sity center which is now being planned by george l beezer last friday union college ne braska and duquesne university pittsburgh were discussed today we will consider student opinion from several other colleges and uni versities it is interesting to note that of the 43 colleges where stu dents reported satisfaction with present facilities and food 24 paid their bills directly to the administra tion often with tuition nine others also satisfied had an option of pay ing in this manner ohio state university is a school that has two plans for payment of food bills the stu dents who live in the dormitor ies pay their food bills with their tuition those living in private homes pay as they go the system is generally consid ered good by the students the reply pointed out that stu dents were satisfied because they had a choice of living in the dorms or in town only the girls must live in the dormitories and they seem content with the food seconds are allowed on everything but meat in the
