halls discipline committee at a spe cial session held tuesday evening the six man committee five of whom were present heard more than 20 witnesses before deciding to recommend the dis ciplinary action to the director of residence halls philip b woodroofe discussing only this case the members met for three hours it is up to the director of residence halls as to where the freshman will be moved being a freshman he cannot be moved out of the dormi tory system by the residence hall disciplinary committee he can only be moved from one residence hall to another the action was taken after the freshman had ignored a warning from the drinker house disciplinary committee and his case was referred to the residence hall joint commit tee the freshman admitted to the joint committee that he had torn a long-distance phone call list from his section wall and it was on this count alone coming on top of the drinker house warning that the disciplinary action was taken william e zeiter 56 the price hall representative on the six-man group stated that further offenses would lead to more serious conse quences he was warned that any further violations on his part would result in the reference of his case to the university committee on discipline it has the power to recommend his removal from the residence hall system vermont urges 21 liquor rule a request that new york state raise its drinking age by three years was sent to the legislature and gov ernor of that state from the ver mont legislature a similar resolu tion was made in january by the . new jersey assembly the minimum age at which a person may buy liquor in ver mont and new jersey is 21 while only 18 in their neighbor ing state of new york it was vermont's and new jer sey's complaint that they cannot cope with the problem of teen-age drinking as long as its youth can go across the state line and legally buy intoxicants at the age of 18 by dick sugarman twelve counselor-proctors with immediate authority over the mem bers of their respective sections will be assigned to the all-freshman dravo house ofr the coming 55-56 school year as proctors they will be re sponsible to the dean of students through a house fellows com mittee of four graduate students also living in the dorm and the director of residence halls counselor-proctors will hold the section offices of president and freshman counselor other section officers will be elected as in the past they will have complete authority over all members of their section it will be within their power to as sign work details for unruly con duct on the part of any member of their section freshmen refusing to cooperate will be referred by the proctor to the house fellows com mittee and if the trouble remains unsolved to the dean of students no demands shall be made of freshmen other than that they comply with existing house rules remission of room rent a single room and an honorarium of 100 for the year will be given the coun selor-proctors their counselor functions will be the same as in the past they will have the responsibility of counsel ing individual freshmen in the area of academic and general welfare see dravo page 5 just under 30 living groups went to the festival box-office in grace hall tuesday morning to get their tickets the remain ing 33 living groups who showed up tuesday afternoon failed to get their tickets some groups requesting upwards of 100 seats were turned away in explaining the seeming large shortage of tickets for saturday night's performance james a cash en 55 business manager of the fes tival said the music festival at tempts in its drawing to cooperate with the various fraternities who sponsor a parents weekend over the weekend of april 16 therefore the fraternities who are at the top of the drawing have taken the majority of the tickets other living groups however will be able to secure large blocks of tickets in any price range for the friday night performance of allegro the possibility of a saturday matinee was considered by music festival personnel but technical and financial problems and the shortage of planning time forced the rejection of this idea friday night sales are progressing very well over 20 per cent of the houses have purchased tickets sales for friday seats are expected to increase when tickets go on sale at ticket agencies in allentown and bethlehem the box-office in grace hall will be open from now until april 15 to sell tickets for the music festival other ticket booths will also be opened around campus next week many good friday night seats are still available prices for the friday night per formance are 1.95 1.75 and 1.50 mail orders will be accepted a check or money order addressed to the music festival grace hall should be enclosed degree notice deadline nears the main issue of the busi ness at the regular weekly arcadia meeting last wednesday evening in drown hall the executive committee of arcadia submitted the recom mendations to the council ob ectives of the new system are twofold firstly to represent students by effectively dealing with their problems and sugges tions and secondly to run effi ciently administered programs this system is designed to spread arcadia committee duties to more men on campus the plan provides for better organized and adminis tered committee work since it is consolidated into a small number of functional groups this program initiates a new in novation in the employment of a group leader whose job will be to coordinate specific committee acti by john mimnaugh more than 17,000 will be requested from the board of trustees by the committee on student club finance for 1955-56 the 17,100 figure represents an increase of 2,100 over the 15,000 allotted to student organizations this year the money is needed for the operation of clubs a roving fund class funds and the purchase of periodicals for drown hall's reading room each organization submitted its formal request recently to the ar cadia committee on student club finance this committee acted on the 17,750 figure submitted by the arcadia committee and reduced it to 17,100 cutting the re quests for arcadia mustard and cheese the glee club the in terfaith council and the roving fund last year's request was cut from 18 800 to 15,000 arcadia in past years had been receiving about 3,000 but the com mittee felt that this was not satis factory each year
