talk at chapel sun the rev theodore o wedel ph.d s.t.d will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m service this sunday in packer chapel dr wedel is the warden of . the college of preachers and a canon of washington cathedral washington d.c he was born in halstead kan and studied at harvard yale and marburg germany from 1918-1934 dr wedel was engaged as an in structor at yale the university of texas and carlton college minn at the 1952 general conven tion of the episcopal church canon wedel was elected presi dent of the house of deputies he has written several books in cluding the medieval attitude to wards astrology the coming great church and the christian ity of main street and craft facilities for individuals and organizations the chairman is william schiesser president of rhc and faculty adviser is residence halls director philip woodroofe to develop information with respect to the social facilities needed for dances parties mov ies and entertainment by living groups and other student orga nizations sac has established the sub-committee on student social facilities its chairman is clarence walbert president of town council and faculty ad visor is preston farr of the in stitute of research the chairman and the faculty ad viser of board of publications sub committee which will analyze the present and future requirements of the various student publications have not yet been announced the sub-committee on special facilities will take up the subject of facilities to be developed for the general usefulness of packer hall they will look into the feasibility of establishing a book store food fa cilities such as a snack bar or cof fee shop lounges post office in formation and ticket booths a bar ber shop and quiet rooms their recommendations to sac must take into considera tion the fact that such facilities as the dining rooms and book store are relatively fixed as far as location is concerned and their planning of necessity must be handled by specialists prof lawrence whitcomb of the department of geology is the faculty adviser the chairman is as yet un announced the above sub committees are to recommend to the student activi ties committee the facilities which their study suggests should be pro vided in the proposed university center also to be included in their report to sac are types and amount of space desired and minimum special space requirements and spe cial location acting as the information cen ter for these groups will be the sub-committee on campus be ations with arthur roth editor of the brown and white as chairman and prof j b mcfad den of the journalism depart ment as adviser it will be the duty of this sub committee to serve as a listening post for campus comments ques toins and discussions to accummu late all setting for the re nowned dixieland music of the dorseys and the rhythmaires feature attractions in grace hall reversing traditional procedure the committee has placed the rhythmaires on the hall's committees to operate within a specific area developing infor mation concerning the provi sions which should be made for student oganizations in the cen ter and making recommenda tions to the student activities committee of arcadia examination of the needs and de sires of each student organization will be the task of the sub-commit tee on student organizations with ralph hamilton arcadia president as chairman and dean leith as fac ulty adviser the sub committee on student recreation will analyze the needs and desires of the students with re spect to games and amusements such as bowling ping-pong and television it will also study hobby parents will visit the lehigh cam pus for the annual fall parents weekend tonight tomorrow and sunday tickets for the football game against gettysburg are selling rapidly and the season's largest throng is expected to view the game starting off the parents week end will be tonight's student concerts-lecture program of excerpts from the gilbert and sullivan productions by helen roberts and richard walker to be held in grace hall before the game the university will provide lunch in grace hall for the students and their parents the faculty will be
