semesters will be accepted on behalf of the board of publications by prof j b mc fadden in his office in the basement of drown hall until 5 p.m next wednesday no consideration will be given to late applications a list of information required in the application letter is posted on the journalism division bulletin board in the basement of drown hall applicants are urged to apply lor more than one position senior petitions for graduation due tomorrow petitions for graduation must be filed by seniors by tomorrow in or der to receive a diploma at com mencement ceremonies to be held at 10:30 a.m june 21 also tomorrow is the deadline for renting gradua tion gowns at the supply bureau rehearsals for graduation will be held on thursday may 27 at 4:10 p.m in packard lab at that time the complete cere mony will be explained by the marshal and his assistants it is of the utmost importance that all seniors be present baccalaureate services will be held sunday june 20 in packer chapel starting at 2:30 p.m candi dates will assemble on the ground floor of packard lab at 1:30 p.m the president's reception for those who receive degrees and their friends will be held on the top floor of grace hall on sunday june 20 at 4 p.m commissions in advanced military and air science and tactics will be conferred at 8:30 a.m june 21 on the upper floor of grace hall can didates for degrees will assemble on the ground floor of packard lab at 9:30 a.m monday june 21 for the graduation evercises the exercises will be held in grace hall see petitions page 9 the long-awaited health center is on its way dr martin d whitaker president of the university broke ground for the 400,000 structure last friday at noon made possible by the chal lenge gift of an anonymous do nor and contributions to the alumni fund the building will enroll for shop on may 24 25 registration for this summer's shop courses will be on may 24 and 25 registrar james h wagner an nounced this week tuition for all summer courses will be 22 per se mester hour two civil engineering courses will be offered c.e 40 land and topographical surveying from june 13 to july 3 and c.e 41 route surveying from july 6 to july 24 machine shop practice m.e 1 will be given in three sections june 21 to july 10 july 12 to july 31 and august 2 to august 21 mine surveying mm 4 will be given from june 13 to june 26 the elements be completed next march eugene g grace chairman of the board of trustees denied that he was the donor of the anonymous challenge gift of 250,000 i wish i were he said this is a typical lehigh project grace stated he pointed out that lehigh has one of the finest facul ties and that the university must keep them he also said that good students must be enrolled and thai facilities must be kept in good for the use of good faculty members and good students stewart j cort chairman of the alumni fund said during the ground-breaking ceremo nies the university that is here has been created by our own family either mas-saucon hall and packard lab in addition to voting for class officers for next year's sopho more junior and senior classes students will vote on a referen dum to change the student body constitution the student body possibility of adding space for six more patients in the new health center were discussed at the arcadia meeting may 5 the proposed structure will be four stories high with air conditioning and heating units on the first floor and physio therapy rooms on the second the third floor will be used as a dispensary and the fourth will have six beds for patients and a kitchen the building will occupy a space of 50 by 100 feet and the old structure will be demolished at the compeltion of the new building a poll of students regarding facul ty evaluation will not be conducted this year because no satisfactory method of polling the students has been devised evaluation next se mester will go on as originally scheduled arcadia president ralph hamil ton 55 announced in his report that falgpole day will be held may 19 the program is sponsored jointly by arcadia the deans and the ath letic department classes are short ened 10 minutes to allow the pro gram to start
