a new constitution for idc was adopted during its meeting tuesday night by a vote of 24 to 1 along with a similar constitution for the dor mitories which was approved by resolution dormitory sections will now vote on both constitutions present size of idc 37 members made the organization too un wieldly and cumbersome for efficiency said bob ameling president of idc so we tried to make it more workable other reasons given for the new constitution were that many section presidents found themselves unable to attend meetings and they did no1 participate when they came it was also felt that the opinions presented to idc were not those of the sec tions but were often entirely per sonal line staff authority is the basis for the new constitution rather than simple line authority and this should make the new organization more functional ameling added among the provisions in the new constitution are a council of nine men consisting of the pres ident of each dormitory and the chairman of four standing com mittees treasury social athletic and discipline no longer will section presidents be on idc each dormitory will have a simi lar organzation consisting of the section presidents and the chairmen of the four standing committees committee chairmen will be chosen from the members of each commit tee who come from each dormitory section president of idc will be chosen from among the house presidents a man will no longer be permitted to see idc page 5 group ticket sales for the 1954 spring music festival will be held monday march 23 drawings for preference will be held next week and the results announced in letters to the living groups and in the brown and white according to business mana ger don schindel 54 the sale will be held from 8 a.m on hi grace hall living group repre sentatives should appear at the specified time with a complete list of their ticket requirements and the appropriate amount hi check or cash prices for the friday april 23 performance are 1.95 1.75 meerwarth 54 constitution passed ratification needed basic belief held vital in all action investiture services for the newly-elected arcadians were held wednesday night in drown hall with pres ident whitaker delivering an address to the new men telling them that they have taken on a serious re sponsibility and that they have a rare opportunity for self development actual investiture services were performed by chaplain raymond fuessle tom nitsche chairman of the elections committee congratulated the brown and white as well as other organizations for their assistance in publicizing the arcadia elections some of the guests in addition to president whitaker were deans byron c hayes and wray h congdon and robert harrier of the alumni association dr whitaker noted that this was the first time he has attended the in vestiture services and emphasized the importance of the new arca dians learning how the university operates he told them that things will operate in a similar manner later on in life he congratulated ralph hamilton on his reelection mentioning his staunchness and tenacity of purpose base judgment on fact dr whitaker advised our troubles come when we give answers without enough facts dr whitaker also told the session we of the university lean heavily on you it is important that you learn as much as you can about the university commenting on candidates poli cies of posting advertisements on trees and posts in former years dr whitaker spoke of the embarrass ment he felt when guests were being shown around the campus he con gratulated the new arcadians tell ing them that they did not win elec tions by having the highest post ers on the largest number of trees he also offered whole-hearted cooperation from the university adminstration three of the new aradians were elected on the first ballot they were hamilton john kirkpatrick and pete veinott others who received the electoral quota of 100 votes were eugene murphy walter carlson and william zeiter other new arcadians are louis peters paul ringenbach stanley corbett william wessner lawrence reynal robert haltenhoff john crandall theodore baum and dave sidikman dance & casino march 20 9-12 dorms invited monte carlo dance and casino will be held saturday march 20 from 9 p.m to 12 midnight in grace hall music will be by george som mers and his band the dance will be open to all students before the dance there will be a presentation of the play mis ter roberts by mustard and cheese in the broughal junior high school auditorium at 7:30 pjn admission charge of 3 permits a couple to attend the monte carlo dance the mustard and cheese play and saturday's dixieland concert at the chor tickets for the dance and play are on sale in the arcadia office from 4 to 5 p.m and in the lobby of christ mas-saucon starting monday march 14 all day long tickets will be sold until noon saturday and then at the door saturday night all action requires some basic commitment will herberg nation ally known author and layman who is leading this year's two-week in terfaith conference told the army rotc monday afternoon in grace hall herberg will discuss this same subject with the air force rotc monday 1 and michael b wind age 18 were among a dozen or more who police say were removing li cense plates from cars parked on e market and high sts at 3:25 a.mu tuesday they told police they intended to throw them in the swimming pool they were practical joking frater nity brothers charged with disorderly conduct stein and wind appeared late tues day before alderman john kilcul len where after a half hour repri mand they were assessed 9 costs silberman and schachter be cause they were only 17 years of age were turned over to the city's juvenile officer vincent d fresoli later they were re leased in the custody of richard thall president of pi lambda phi after a chiding at police headquarters all four were reported to the dis cipline committee alderman kilcullen in his half hour fatherly talk told stein and wind that he was dismissing the charges against them because he didn't want to see them start adult life with a police record your purpose in attending le high he said is to establish your selves in life and to make a different kind of a record for yourselves if a successful prosecution were estab lished instead it would stand against you forever — where you go i am therefore
