church st and then pro ceeded into the intersection where he collided with the hearse lie said that he did not see the hearse due to a frosted right front window donald friedman 55 who was riding with baker was treated at st luke's hospital for a brush burn on his right side and was then released baker who was also taken to st luke's was released after being x-rayed and treated for a contusion to his left knee baker reported damage to the en tire front of his car amounting to 350 kenneth w frey who owns the hearse reported damage of 1,200 as the undercarriage was dam aged when the hearse was william dudgeon and cousin jane representatives of activities di rectly involved in the proposed drown hall parking regulations are meeting with associate dean byron c hayes today in an effort to obtain the views of all interested parties in a meeting scheduled for 3 p.m today dean hayes was scheduled to outline his reasons for proposing the new system when contacted by the brown and white sunday he refused comment but promised to dis cuss the question tuesday james gottling 54 chairman of the arcadia campus committee sent out post cards last week to the heads of all groups involved receiving in vitations to attend the meeting were the b&w wlrn epitome the drown hall house committee and the student activities committee ralph meerwarth 54 arcadia president said he expected to attend the meeting also even though arca dia did not receive an invitation i was under the impression that it was an open meeting meerwarth said failure to no tify me was probably an over sight on jim's part the new parking plan was origi nally presented to arcadia by gott ling at its meeting last wednesday night when gottling couldn't ex plain what would be done with the spaces left unused according to the plan elliott barnett 54 suggested that the topic be tabled for further investigation gottling then called the open meeting party chaperones were mr and mrs samuel j errera and mr and mrs leon krouse at drinker house and mr and mrs ray l armstrong at richards house although a few girls did not show up complaints over failure to get dates were rare according to run ners at the three meeting places this was in marked contrast to last year when close to 50 men who had signed up for dates did not get them approximately 325 couples danced to the music of the collegians sat urday night in wjhat most people termed the most successful dorm drag ever held dancing in grace hall from 8:30 to 11:45 and parties in drinker and richards lounges from 9:30 to midnight was pro vided by ddc for those who paid a two-dollar assessment also provided for dorm men were dates for those who needed them idc succeeded in recruiting 223 girls from neighboring colleges hospitals and ywca's men who signed up for dates were told last week where to meet them in drown hall and in richards and drinker lounges runners met the girls when they arrived and intro duced each girl to her escort there were two girls from moravian college for women 25 from cedar crest 50 from centenary 50 from sacred heart hospital 26 from allentown general hospital 20 from st luke's hospital 13 from the bethlehem ywca and 37 from beaver buses were hired by idc to trans port all girls except those from mor avian st luke's and the ywcai those girls were brought over by dance officials in private cars the dance went very well said volkmar niemitz 54 idc vice pres ident the collegians deserve spe cial praise because most people i talked to thought they p^yed very well incidents were kept at a mini mum niemitz continued the only unfortunate occurence was the late arrival of the bus carrying the ce dar crest girls evidently the bus driver got lost because they didn't get here until quarter of 10 chaperones at the dance were residence counselor philip wood roofe and his wife and dean and mrs john d leith guests from girls schools were mr hesse cen tenary director of student activities and mrs satterthwaite and miss wilson from beaver college with the aid of a boy scout color guard the band forms an ameri can flag during a salute to the boy scouts saturday at half time the salute was in recognition of the 1000 scouts who were present for scout visitation day wafer off six hours in dorms fraternittes all dormitories except price hall and several fraternities were with out water for approximately six hours friday night and saturday morning when a valve broke at the high level reservoir on south moun tain the break occurred at about 10 p.m friday and lasted until about 4 a.m the outside the alumni building saturday was released from st luke's hospital saturday afternoon here with his scout troop for scout visitation day weinstock was struck by a car driven by delbert c harpel 17 a coopersburg high school student at approximately 10 a.m harpel told police that weinstock stepped off the curb into the side of my car members of the injured boy's scout trop corroborated harpel's story harpel was going west on the drive outside the alumni building when the accident occurred scouts on the scene said that weinstock stepped off the narrow walk which was crowded with touring boys and fell heavily on his shoulder after being'struck st luke's hospital dispatched an ambulance after being called by a supply bureau employee the ambulance arrived at 10:10 a.m and the police five minutes later at the hospital weinstock's condition was pronounced good his broken collarbone was set and he was released at 5 p.m for the return trip to scranton lehigh frosh are on their way to victory in the annual tug-of-war against the lafayette freshmen in easton friday cheering them on is a cheerleader and other engineer fans who were present for the frosh football game the 57 freshmen extended the brown and white's mastery over the leopards in two straight heats the rope pull was held between halves of the football game in which the little engineers made the day a complete sweep 21-6 nearly 1,500 fathers and mothers took advantage of parents day sat urday to take part in a buffet lunch confer with faculty members and watch the football team roll over carnegie tech according to robert herrick who was in charge of publicity for the event it was estimated that a total of 2,300 parents stu dents and faculty members had lunch together on the lower floor of grace hall i was very happy that so many parents could make the trip par ents day was a complete success commented herrick on the affair immediately after the lunch and conference with the faculty par ents
