frequent all-dormitory parties will be held by idc if a plan unani mously approved by the council at its tuesday meeting wins support of the dean's office acting on a report by a special committee appointed to investi gate social conditions in the dor mitories idc voted to have par ties open to dorm men with dates with toe setting alternat ing between the richards and drinker lounges and the top floor of drown hall alcoholic beverages may be serv ed at parties in the dormitory lounges punch and soft drinks will be served in drown hall richards and drinker will serve as hosts during parties held in their lounges as such they will be re sponsible for providing refresh ments dancing and an entertain ment program they will share re sponsibility with idc for the con duct of those at the party other dormitories will alter nate as hosts for drown hall parties their duties will be similar to those of richards and drinker drown hall parties will begin at 9 p.m immediately after the idc movies which will be open to dates the 9 p.m showing of the movies will be open to stags as usual admission to the richards and drinker parties will be approxi mately two dollars men desiring to attend will be required to sign up in advance in drown hall a dona tion of approximately 25 cents will see idc page 6 arcadia delays action on drown car plan arcadia has referred back to committee a motion prohibiting parking at drown hall during school hours except for cars bearing approved ar cadia placards cars bearing such placards would have been permitted to park for only one hour the motion presented by james g gottling 54 at wednesday's arcadia meeting was referred back to committee because according 1 to a letter received by gottling from dean byron g hayes only 10 parents of lehigh undergraduates guests of the university tomorrow will be served a cold platter buffet luncheon in grace hall between 11:30 a.m and 1 p.m and then see lehigh tackle carnegie tech in their 15th meeting since 1907 consisting of open roast beef sandwiches potato chips sweet rolls and plenty of coffee the luncheon will be held on the lower floor of grace hall guests will sit in the bleachers while eating mr wood and his lamberton hall group will handle the affair for which about 1700 persons are expected a special committee of faculty members headed by dr stanley thomas head of the biology dept will help meet the guests and make them feel more at home special arrangements have been made for the obtaining of football tickets and parking space parents were sent invitations which includ ed a ticket application blank par ents who accepted the offer then filled out the form and sent it to their sons these students presented the forms along with their id cards and obtained the necessary foot ball tickets and ticket providing free parking either on the upper field or in the parking lot at the corner of brodhead and packer members of the faculty have been invited to attend the luncheon to as sist pres whitaker in welcoming the parents as well as to provide an op portunity for lehigh families to be come acquainted with the teaching staff living groups were asked to make the noon hour available so that par ents could join their sons and meet faculty members before the game parents who expect to reach the campus early can look at a display of the university's rare book collection which is located in the treasure room of the li brary an art exhibition will also be in progress in the art gallery when the engineers take the field in taylor stadium saturday after noon they will be shooting for them 13th victory over carnegie tech in 15 games the tartans have won one game with the 1943 contest end ing in a scoreless tie carnegie tech is ending its season one of its best in years during lei high's unforgetful 1960 season un defeated engineer and tartan elev ens met in taylor stadium with the men from pittsburgh being embar rassed 66-0 eleven persons were tapped featuring guest cel list reynold seimens will be held this sunday afternoon at 4 in the browsing room of the university li brary seimens who will be accom panied at the piano by jose kahan of the curtis institute of music philadelphia will play the ada gio from toccata in c major by bach sonata in g major by sammartini sonata in e minor by brahms adagio and allegro by boccherini the recital will be open to the public and there will be no admis sion charge future programs in the series in clude a performance by the univer sity concert band on dec 6 and a christmas vespers program by the glee clubs of lehigh and moravian college for women in the chapel on dec 13 two freshmen disciplined for breaking rules disciplinary action was taken last wednesday night by the cyanide disciplinary committee on two freshmen for breaking freshman regulations one freshman was punished for continuous failure to wear his dink and the other was dis ciplined for signing the names of four other freshmen at a re cent convocation meeting the latter was warned that further action would be taken if there were any other infractions of the freshman roles three other freshmen were called before the committee but were not disciplined dave sidikman 55 was the acting chairman of the commit tee sixty freshmen have been picked to represent the freshman class at the traditional tug-of-war with la fayette this afternoon in easton if the freshmen win this tug-of-war they will be able to remove their dinks however if they are not suc cessful cyanide will be forced to find another project spaces would be reserved for cars bearing such placards the reason for the reservation of only 10 spaces west of the center cir cle was not clear to arcadia therer fore ralph hamilton's motion for tabling the proposal was accepted an open meeting of the arcadia campus committee will be held early next week with dean hayes in attendance all interested parties namely people who have an interest in parking at drown hall are invit ed to the meeting the motion which was refer red to committee read no cars may be parked in the drown hall parking area during the hours 8 a.m to 4 p.m except those symbolic armistice day set ting the annual peace pact between lehigh and lafayette was signed in drown hall wednesday afternoon similar to the one signed oct 22 with muhlenberg the pact pledges the respective student governments to actively discour age any raiding of the campuses by students from the other school disciplinary action in the event of violent or felonious damage to the other campus will be severe accord ing to the agreement arcadia president ralph meer warth 54 and lafayette student council president richard neeld agreed that responsibility for main taining law and order and for finan cial reparations rests squarely on the student governments of the two institutions to discourage vandalism the brown and white and the lafa yette have agreed to exchange 220 copies of their issues con taining news of the peace pact
