farther off campus than brou ghal high school additional work will not be necessary however since the scenery lighting and stage equipment for all three performances have been designed to stress simplici ty last seen on broadway in 1942 with mary boland as mrs malaprop and bobby clark as bob acres the rivals is an 18th century comedy and since 1775 has been a favorite of professional and little theatre groups the world over it is a high farce probably most successful in character portrayal mrs malaprop whose misuse of words gave the word malapropism to the english language bob acres a bumptuous country square trying to behave like a gentleman and ro mantic lydia languish her head report stresses college danger president whitakcr pointed out the need for private colleges to jus tify their existence to the public if they are to continue to exist in his annual report for the fiscal year 1951-52 if a dual system of higher education private and public is to be maintained for this coun try then it is only realistic to judge the private college as well as the state institution in terms of essential service he said if the dual system is to be guar anteed then the burden is upon the private college to interpret its serv ice in such terms as will invite sup port from private sources equal to that provided to state institutions by their legislatures total unrestricted income for 1951 52 was 3,000,649 of which the ma jor part 53.73 per cent came from student tuition and fees instruc tion expenses accounted for more than any other item 32.24 per cent the institute of formation of a junior in terfraternity council highlighted ifc's meeting monday night thomas maccabe 53 head of the scholarship committee re ported that after preliminary checks on the ifc question naires the only definite cojiclu the world-famous vienna choir boys wiu present a concert of sacred music folk songs and costume oper ettas at 8 p.m monday in grace hall under the auspices of the student concerts-lectures committee the current tour features the third group of youngsters to arrive here since 1948 this will be a return engage ment at lehigh for the choir boys who appeared on the con certs-lectures program in octo ber 1949 students will be ad mitted free with id cards the concert divided into three parts will open with a group of sacred songs written in the 16th and 17th centuries after a brief inter mission some of the lads will change from sailor suits to high heeled shoes dresses and wigs for their costume operetta the program will conclude with secular music and folk songs the troupe of more than 20 boys aged seven to 1 2 years are members of an organization which dates back to july 7 1498 when maximillian es tablished the choir by imperial de cree subsidized by the hapsburgs until the first world war the group achieved fame throughout europe haydn and schubert were members of the vienna choir until their voices changed thousands of boys are brought to the institution each year by hopeful parents but only about 100 youngsters are accepted since the first world war the choir has been supported by private funds supplemented by the income derived from concert tours which began in 1926 scl presents vienna singers for third time volume 64 number 37 sixteen men became arcadia as sociates by arcadia action wednes day unanimous approval was giv en to
