cleaning and painting of the walls started yester day farrell said a junior was immediately sus pended by the university committee on discipline with loss of all semes ter credits for betrayal of trust as a university employee surreptitious ly securing extra id cards and de frauding the university by using them to secure football tickets at a committee meeting wed nesday this and other actions found necessary by the commit tee were taken it was announc ed by wray h congdon dean of students suspension for the spring semester and five demerits have been given a sophomore for cheating in an hour quiz attempting to deceive an in structor with a changed quiz paper and denying facts one freshman will be suspended for the next semester for entering a locked building and securing an in structor's grade book to change grades a sophomore and freshman were given the same penalty for il legally making and possessing keys to university buildings for unpremeditated cheating in an hour quiz a junior has been dropped from the course and denied credit the same plus three demerits have been given a sophomore for possess ing but not using a crib in an hour quiz a sophomore has had his identifi cation card revoked for illegal pos session of extra cards he was also given three demerits warnings were issued to four stu dents for negligence of rules govern ing the taking of a quiz residence hall regulations of scholastic pro bation restrictions and of regula tions governing laboratory reports half million donated in 52 lu endowment - - 9.8 million cort chairman of the lehigh alum ni fund 2,198 alumni broke all past records for giving and provided a total of 151,348 through the fund proceeds of the campaign were used for the modernization of taylor house dormitory built in 1906 through a gift of andredw carnegie 92,500 was totaled from six teen scholarships and fellow ships endowed by industrial firms r p hutchinson bethle 543,648 in gifts and bequests came into the 235,313 represents contributions to the plant fund and 70,991 was donated to the lehigh progress fond in announcing the gifts to the uni versity glick pointed out that 195 860 had been added to capital en dowment as directed by the donors all of this went into realizing the nine and three quarter million dol lar total under the direction of stewart j bethlehem fire-fighting equipment arrived luke's wednesday afternoon however for observation shock and se dation the car owned by paul miller 54 was completely demolished ac cording to coopersburg police it had skidded and overturned on an area of ice on highway 309 at fluck's hill scene of six accidents within 10 minutes during a recent ice storm an underground stream which creates unusual icy conditions on the highway is attributed by and one no longer prac ticed by most of our fraternities here at lehigh after repeatedly emphasizing the limitation of pre-initiation activities to work projects or harmless games within a house and after receiving the apparent approval of all our member fraternities of the elimina tion of the obsolete hell week i was complacently confident that our fraternity group could be proud of its adult approach to an outmoded tradition — by the replacement of hell week with help week i sincerely hope that the frater nity system and the fraternity in question will not be judged and condemned for the
