arcadia that it con sider the case there is some ques tion whether argyle who was the leader of the collegian dance band could be barred from music activi ties other than those included in the combined music clubs consti tution to which the collegians group is subject the ousting of argyle came when argyle disputed the action of robert boudreau faculty adviser to the collegians who dismissed ralph bach 53 from the group for failure to appear to play at gov adlai stevenson's whistle stop speech in bethlehem on the ground that argyle was guilty of conduct unbecoming a j gentleman in voicing his objec tions boudreau removed him from the collegians the constitution of the combined music clubs author izes the faculty adviser to take such action george gansz head of the mu sic department told the brown and white wednesday that there had been no change made in argyle's status since he was banned capitol recording stars matt gillespie and his orchestra will supply the music for the annual winter dance the snow ball the dance sponsored by the sophomore class will be held at grace hall dec 13 from 9 to 1 the entire sophomore cabinet is on the committee for arrangements for the event co-chairman are robert seeds and tucker machette dress is informal and the price of a ticket is 1.95 a couple the dance follows the first home wres tling meet when lehigh takes on cornell for the senior class memorial : gift plan drive which if actively j supported by the men on the 1953 i class should benefit the university i to the tune of 167,000 in twenty years headed by chuck rogers the drive calls for the enlistment of support of the members of the sen ior class in subscribing to a 300 20-year endowment policy which would mature by the twentieth re union of the senior class at this time the president and the pro gram director of the class would determine for what purpose the money is to be spent after attempt ing to get the desires of their class mates first step in the drive will be a j meeting of the solicitors tonight in drown hall there they will re ceive their instructions for canvas sing the seniors and also receive the thanks of the administration for undertaking the campaign by paul franz assistant to the presi dent the drive this semester will last for the next two weeks no monetary payment is to be made now but raiher the assurance of support is being sought first pre mium can be paid from the money deposited in june for the cap and gown acting under rogers dave leith heads the town council division of the drive with rudy berger and doug clausen heading the idc and ifc drives respectively siarna phi's cod debate visits by inter-fraternity council representatives to freshmen only upon their special request will be tried this year as a plan to ac quaint the frosh with fraternity life the plan which will be put on an experimental basis was pre sented and passed at a meeting of the council last week its purpose is also to give the night by the slimmest possible margin first prize of 120 was awarded to the negative team after judges returned a split three to two decision the 80 remainder of the prize money went to the affirma tive team composed of freshmen james riley and robert mccor mick debating the topic resolved that the pennsylvania legislature should enact a compulsory fair em ployment practices law the win ning team held that such a law would not accomplish the aims of toleration that have been attrib uted to it a compulsory fair prac tices law would breed more intol eration they said because of the coercion it must involve judging the debate were dr e b everitt assistant professor of english and former coach of de bate at muhlenberg college dr john d leith associate dean of students j walter maxwell uni
