Annotation | "I wanted to explore this modern day archaeological site. During my initial visit, I thought of my feelings and emotions while visiting Mesa Verde years earlier. Are the walls and structures of Bethlehem Steel, our cliff dwellings, cave paintings or canyon walls? Are these grounds in some ways sacred? What has become of those who were here? At times, I could sense the presence of the steelworkers who had passed through the buildings. When a train passed by, it felt as though the machinery was moving and alive. This sense of mystery and questioning is what I hope to convey through these photographs." - Theo Anderson |
