Semptimphelter completed 28-of- 45 passes for 390 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes. Simply put he was brilliant in conditions which featured light rain throughout much of the game and very slippery field conditions. "Scott was very focused." head coach Hank Small commented. "When a quarterback is focused and has time up front, it makes all the difference." "With the protection I was getting and the receivers getting open, you couldn't ask for a better day offensively." Semptimphelter added. The main target was Dave Cecchini half. That's when junior Greg Moore (Psychology) recorded the first interception of his career at the Hofstra 36-yard line. Two plays later Semptimphelter hit Mark-Lookenbill (Management) for a three-yard touchdown. The ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed, but three plays later junior Greg Anion (Architecture) intercepted a George Beisel pass at the Hofstra 32-yard line. Two passes later Semptimphelter and Cecchini hooked up for a 10-yard TD strike. Once.again the two-point conversion failed, but the Engineers had moved out to a comfortable 18-0 lead. Defensively.
