Both times Fordham was inside the Lehigh 10-yard line. For the first time in two years, the defense also played a hard-hitting opportunistic brand of football, intercepting Ram quarterback John Pohlman a school record five times. Offensively, sophomore Raphael Stillings (Accounting) in his first collegiate game, responded with a 21- yard touchdown run in the first half to give Lehigh a 10-0 lead. He also gained 64 yards on 17 carries. The big-play capability also became apparent as twice within a four minute time span in the fourth quarter, quarterback Scott Semptimphelter (Marketing) hit Dave Cecchini (Marketing) for touchdown passes of 43 and 63 yards. The special teams also did their job, especially punter Craig Melograno (Civil Engineering). The senior entered the short yardage." Junior Jason Mack (Chemical Engineering) led the defensive performers with nine tackles and one interception. One play after Mack's fourth- quarter interception, Semptimphelter hit Cecchini for the touchdown and 17-0 lead. Mack wasn't the only Lehigh Valley player to pickoff Pohlman. Tony Perilla (Arts & Science) also had a theft. Michael Blunt (Finance) began the interception barrage as he stopped the first two Ram drives with interceptions. Tahir Rivers (Arts & Science) also picked off one pass. "It felt great to get that interception," Mack said. "The adrenaline just starts flowing and everything starts happening.
