Senior captain Brenda Sirois was chosen all-conference goalkeeper for her outstanding performances that led Lehigh to a third-place ranking in the conference. Karyn Yost, a sophomore, was named all-conference forward for her superior scoring abilities. Defensively, junior Kathleen Zeberlein was a star performer. She was named an all- conference back. Men Dump Nebraska 2d; Two Rivals Burley OW Lehigh's men's basketball team opened its season splitting four decisions. The Engineers started with a 43-38 triumph over Kutztown, bowed 61-57 to Hofstra, won 44- 25 over Colgate and lost to undefeated Fairfield, 66-58. Coach Brian Hill's squad had one more contest scheduled, against Gettysburg, before the holiday break. Strong defense and a patient, time-consuming offensive game stressing possession until a good percentage shot came along, marked the team's early performances. The Colgate triumph was a result of this strategy. Lehigh wrestlers, bolstered by the return of Darryl Burley and Jim Reilly who sat out last year, launched the 1982-83 schedule with a dual meet victory at Wilkes and first place in their 4th annual Sheridan Invitational Tournament. The Engineers had one more dual slated, against defending national champion Iowa, before breaking for the holiday. At Wilkes they took seven of the 10 bouts en route to a 28-9 margin, wiping out the Colonels in the lighter weights where they are strong. Wilkes went against Navy two nights later and swept those lower weights to run up a 15-0 led, before the Middies rallied to win, 23-15. Burley, of Pemberton, N.J., came back into the picture with four impressive victories in four starts. He was 3-for-3 in the Sheridan Tourney, won 9-5 over Al Freeman of Nebraska in the finals and was voted Outstanding Wrestler. Prior to the tourney The Amateur Wrestling News voted Burley No. 1 in the nation at 142 with Freeman No. 2. Reilly, of North Wales, Pa., won three times but was (Continued on Page 2) Phone the Lehigh Hotline (1-215-691-1885) for latest sports scores and information Wrestling Summaries SHERIDAN TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 118—Bob Weaver, Lehigh, dec.
