Both qualified for the finals in the eastern tournament at Lehigh, Young winning the 190- pound crown and Okada earning a wild card berth after finishing runnerup at 112. For Okada the Nationals provided an opportunity to avenge a surprise eastern finals loss to Carl Wilson of West Chester, Pa., State College. He scored a unanimous decision over Wilson in the Reno rematch, also a title round finale. Young stopped Rick McGough, of Nevada-Reno, in the third round of their championship scrap. McGough elected to slug it out with the hard-hitting Engineer and Young battered him hard, especially to the body, and twice McGough took a standing eight count before a final assault finished him off. Okada and Young are Lehigh's first national boxing -champions since 1977 when Davey O'Brien, a lightweight, went all the way. They represented the Lehigh Boxing Club JOHN YOUNG headed by Bill Quay, dean of students at the University, and coached by John Dopsovic. Both are seniors in the College of Business and Economics.
