Vol. 18 — No. 24 APRIL 21, 1976 BETHLEHEM, PA. Baseballers Sweep League Rivals Trackmen Outscore West Chester Scott, Thoren Win Twice Over Rams Sam Scott and Stellan Thoren each posted double wins as Lehigh trackmen defeated West Chester 83-62 to stay unbeaten. Scott took the 100 in 10.0 and also won the 220 in 22.5 while Thoren won the 880 (1:56.2) and mile (4:16.2). Scott also anchored the winning 440-relay team for Lehigh, now 5-0. SRD Program Monday, May 10 Student Recognition Day at Lehigh University, centered around late-morning flagpole ceremonies and climaxed by an evening dinner, has been scheduled for Monday, May 10. Flagpole awards will be made at 11 a.m. on the campus green in front of the University Center, or in Packard Laboratory in case of rain. The evening awards banquet is slated for Windish Hall, opposite Site Changed A track meet between Lehigh and Lafayette, scheduled for the Saucon Valley Fields, has been changed from Apr. 27 to Apr. 30. It starts at 4 p.m. Taylor Stadium, at 6:30 p.m. Activities are sponsored by the Student Relations Committee of the Lehigh Alumni Assn., the Lehigh Hosts Track Meet Lehigh will host the 1976 | i East Coast Conference |§ | track and field champion- § • ships May 7-8 on its Saucon | || Valley Fields athletic I §! complex. John Steckbeck, associate director of intramural sports and recreation at Lehigh, will direct the flagpole festivities and serve as master of ceremonies at the dinner. Coaches and teams who participated in winter and spring athletics, and campus academic leaders, will be honored at the banquet. Both hurlers spun shutouts, lorio throwing a six-hit 5-0 victory in the opener and Smith following with a brilliant 8-0 three-hit triumph in the nightcap. Lehigh's twin triumphs lifted the Engineers to 9-9 overall and 4- 2 in the league. lorio fanned nine and walked three in his opening blank job while pitching out of jams in the first and eighth innings. Lehigh's hitting was also in full bloom, the Engineers collecting 13 hits, including four during a four-run fifth inning. Joe Carroll ignited the frame with a single and advanced to third when Steve Dunkleberger reached on an error.
