Second Half Rally Produces 17-1.0 Victory Over Post Lehigh gridders turned full attention toward arch-rival Lafayette this week after last Saturday's hard-earned victory over C.W. Post, 17-10, which gave the Engineers a fourth straight winning season for the first time since 1950. Post, one of the nation's better Div. Ill squads and leader in the Lambert Bowl rankings, was beaten into submission only after running up a 10-0 halftime lead on the Engineers and threatening to register an upset. Lehigh has a 6-and-4 record, with one game remaining, while Post cqn61uderi its regular schedule (with an 8-and-2 mark and high hopes of a berth in the NCAA DUv,. MI post-season playoffs. Coach John Whitehead's squad, rebounding after its heartbreaking 21-20 loss at Virginia, accomplished very little during a flat first half against the Pioneers but turned things around after the intermission with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal. A crowd of 7,000 in Taylor Stadium braved cold, windy weather to watch a hard-hitting, defense-oriented struggle. The fans actually saw two games. Post was in charge during the first half, leading 10-3 in first downs and 153-50 in total yards. Lehigh took charge after the intermission, leading 13-2 in first downs over the third and fourth quarters, and 236-50 in yards. Quarterback Mike Rieker, unable to complete a pass in the first half and missing on his first two tries in the second, suddenly strung together six in a row and the Engineers had the touchdown which gave them a big lift and put them right back in the game. The first two were meaningless because the Engineers were stopped on downs at the Post 45. The next four, however, were vital as Lehigh marched 80 yards in 10 plays for the TD after the visitors missed a field goal attempt. Rieker passed 12 yards to Mark Weaver to get things rolling, eight to fullback Rod Gardner of Maplewood, N.J., and 19 to tight end Larry Henshaw of Ham- (Continued on Page 2) Wrestling Trials Climax Nov. 23 Lehigh wrestlers will stage their final pre-season trials in Grace Hall Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. with winners at 10 bouts probable starters for the regular season opener Dec. 1 at Wilkes College.
