Matmen Launching '75-76 Season Gridders Eliminated From Playoffs UNH Takes 35-21 Thriller Rugged New Hampshire, making the big plays offensively and defensively, broke open a tight game with three touchdowns in the final period last Saturday to defeat Lehigh in the first round of the NCAA Div II football playoffs, 35-21. A crowd of 9,100 watched a gruelling, exciting contest in unseasonably perfect gridiron weather in Taylor Stadium. It was the Engineers' only loss there all year. Previously they had knocked over Millersville, Pennsylvania, Rutgers, Maine, Colgate and Lafayette in home duels. In other Div. n opening round action Western Kentucky nipped Northern Iowa, 14-12, Livingston, Ala., University stunned North Dakota, 34-14, and Northern Michigan toppled Boise State, 24- 21. New Hampshire and Western Kentucky clash Saturday in the Rice Bowl at Baton Rouge, La., while Livingston and Northern Michigan meet in the Pioneer Bowl at Wichita Falls, Tex. The division's national championship finale is Dec. 13 in the Camellia Bowl at Sacramento, Calif. Major contributors to the UNH triumph, offensively, were tailback Bill Burnham who carried the ball 34 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and caught two passes for 43 yards, and quarterback Jeff Allen who completed eight of 17 tosses for 166 yards and two TDs. Lehigh, its attack thrown out of balance when New Hampshire shut down its rushing game went into the air successfully with quarterback Joe Sterrett of (Continued on Page 2) Lambert Luncheon Dec. 11 In NYC Saturday's loss to New Hampshire will have no bearing on the final 1975 Lambert Cup ratings which placed Lehigh No. 1 and the Wildcats, champions of the Yankee Conference, No. 2. Lehigh will receive the trophy Dec. 11 at a luncheon in the Hotel Roosevelt, New York City. Denny Diehl, of the Lehigh alumni office, is coordinating the luncheon for the University. Mike Lieberman To Lead Squad; 3 Champs Missing Mike Lieberman Wrestling TV, Radio Television and ratio coverage of Lehigh wrestling once again is scheduled. WLVT-TV, Channel 39 of the Lehigh Valley, will telecast six home meets for delayed viewing. Radio station WGPA of Bethlehem and its FM affiliate, WEZV, will broadcast some of the meets and offer summaries ■ following the others. Radio stations WLRN and WLVR, of Lehigh University, will broadcast all of the home meets and "most" of the away tests. This activity begins Wednesday, Dec. 3, when the Engineer matmen open their campaign against Wilkes in Grace Hall at 8 p.m. WLVT-TV, Channel 39, will telecast the action for showing Sunday, Dec. 7, at noon. It will be shown over WVIA, Channel 44 of the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area, Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 p.m. WLIW, Channel 21 of Garden City, N.Y., will offer all of the Lehigh home meets, originated by WLVT, at times and dates to be selected. Viewers on Long Island are asked to contact WLIW for this information. WLVT-TV's next telecast will be Lehigh—Oregon State, part of a Dec. 12-13 quadrangular in Grace Hall, which will be aired Sunday, Dec. 14, at noon. The station also will feature Lehigh against North Carolina State, Yale, Army and Penn State on delayed telecasts. Viewing times and dates still are to be selected. EIWA Tickets Go On Sale Tickets for the 72nd Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Assn. championships at Franklin and Marshall College's Mayser Center next Feb. 27-28 went on sale Monday, Dec. 1, at Lancaster. Dr. William A. Marshall, F&M's athletic director, said ticket requests will be accepted only by mail, and will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. F&M's Mayser Center will seat 3,000 for the EIWA championships. Series tickets, which will admit holders to all four sessions of the championships, cost $12. Ticket requests must include 50 cents for handling charges and a stamped- addressed return envelope. Marshall said a limited number of tickets will be available at the door for-eaetes6ession.
