Our running backs were effective. Post looked like a pretty good outfit, perhaps stronger than we anticipated, and it turned into a rough contest. We have problems, naturally, and there's a lot of work to be done." . . . Fred Dunlap, football. season. Arrangements for three signs in color and provided without cost as a public service, were made through Charles G. Shutout First Since 1962; Jim Petrillo Lost for Year Lehigh's first shutout in 68 regularly - scheduled football games produced a 7-0 triumph over C.W.Post, of Brookville , N.Y., Saturday before 8,000 fans in Taylor Stadium. It was a costly victory, however, as fullback Jim Petrillo suffered an injured knee and will be lost for the rest of the season. He underwent surgery Saturday night. The hard-hitting senior fullback, from Tuckahoe, N.Y., picked up 39 yards in eight carries and scored the only touchdown before being sidelined early in the third quarter. His tally climaxed an 80-yard assault late in the first period. He rammed the final two yards through right guard and Ron Schattenberg's extra point conversion completed the day's scoring. Highly-touted Bob Nixon,a 195 pound sophomore from Carnegie, Pa., replaced Petrillo and did very well with 37 yards in seven attempts. Junior quarterback Ron Wilsker of Arverne, N.Y., went all the way for Lehigh on offense. He threw only eight times, with three completions for 26-yards, as the Engineers appeared content to play conxervative football once they stepped out front. Two of his passes came during the 80-yard TD march, a 13- yarder to Dave Gill and a 4- yarder to Don Diorio. Otherwise it was the Engineer's vaunted ground game which did the job. Diorio had the longest run of the drive, 11- yards, and he received strong support from Petrillo, Jack Rizzo and Jack Paget. Paget's eight-yard slash gave Lehigh a first down on the Pioneer 25, Diorio picked up four and Post was penalized five for illegal procedure, moving the ball to the 16. Petrillo blasted through the middle for seven and Rizzo slammed seven off right tackle before Petrillo made the final pair. The Engineers were on the move again late in the fourth stanza, driving from midfield to the Post 3-yard stripe where a fourth-down field goal attempt was being set up as time expired A pair of penalties against the visitors, and the running of Diorio Rizzo, Paget and Nixon highlighted this surge.
